~May 2013~

Spring, like each sunrise, brings with it hope. Hope for new and beautiful things.

Things I hope I never take for granted.

My family and those I consider friends.

Tonights sunset, and tomorrows sunrise.

The beauty of nature that can be found in even the most unexpected places~ if only you take the time to see.

I am sitting here watching the clouds as they build over the mountain, when I should be cleaning my house, editing photos, or any of the other, numerous things that are on my never ending list of “to do’s”.

I made a trip to town today and watched people be people.

Rude and short and just for the most part angry.

I stood in line at the grocery store and let the aging gentleman in the wheel chair behind me go ahead, just to make his day a little easier.

I smiled at the sound of the little birds talking in the garden department at Home Depot,

and wondered how many others even noticed them.

The drive home I watched the storm building over beautiful snow capped mountains.

I saw deer and antelope does along the way and wondered when I would get to see my first fawn this year.

I received texts and phone callse from those I care about that made me smile.

I was able to share the ride and lunch with a friend that is dear to my heart.

Yep,

I can only hope that I never become one of those bitter and angry people who forgets to notice the little, beautiful things in life, or two busy to look forward to

todays sunset ~and tomorrows beautiful sunrise.

Photos have a way of taking us back to a time and place.

February 2012~ I had gone out to check the lek grounds. I took a side road and stumbled across this bull on my way home.

He wasn’t doing well. It was cold out that day, bitter cold. I can still recall, even a year later all the things I thought and felt as I watched him waiting to see if he was going to be ok.

I put a call in to Game and fish, sent them the photos I took and let them handle the situation.

But this bull, and the timing, left a very lasting impression on me. And today when I came across the photos I took of him, I couldn’t help but be touched by his strength and the irony of the entire situation.

Never give up. Rest when you need to and then get up and fight for what you want.

Chasing dreams

Started out 2013 with new goals and dreams. Chasing some old ones and catching them. Over the last month I have been able to spend time outside again, and I am loving every minute of it. I have missed the mountains, the quiet places and the simple little things like looking at tracks in the snow, or the clouds dancing around the high mountain peaks.
I decided 3 years ago that I wanted to do a grand slam~ photography style and photograph one of every species of wildlife in the North West. (Good, print worthy~ photographs) So this year started out perfectly when I went to the mountains with friends to look for freshly shed moose paddles and was able to capture this image of a Snow Shoe hare ~ species #1 on my list, and one that has succeeded in escaping my lens for the last 3 years.. I am not sure how many animals there are in the North West, but hopefully I will get the opportunity to photograph each one them this year.~ and I look forward to sharing them here. ~
Goal # 2 ~ Tomorrow I will be flying to Las Vegas to attend the SHOT show. I have been trying to get there for quite a few years now, and tomorrow I will finally see that goal fulfilled. I am sure that this mountain girl will see a few new creatures there as well. I can’t wait to see old friends and to finally meet, in person, many that I have only been able to know via phone or online…
My wish for you in 2013 ~ don’t hold back. Chase your dreams down and be happy. Those who truly love you will be right there with you helping you reach those goals and dreams ~ just as you would be there to help them reach theirs. Never put life on hold for others. Over the last 8 months I have learned that those who truly love you would never expect, or want you to do that. When someone loves you. ~ their dreams become yours and yours theirs… I know I would never have a goal or a dream that would hurt those I care about most~ family or friends. Yep… 2013 is about chasing and seeing dreams full filled.. what are some of your dreams for this new year ?
